Editorial Policy

Effective: October 4, 2026 · Last updated: October 4, 2026

MyIPShow is a one-person site, built and run by me, Pavel Ahmed, in Kushtia, Bangladesh. This Editorial Policy explains how the guides, tool pages and FAQ answers on the site are written, where the facts come from, how tool results are produced, and what happens when something is wrong. It sits alongside the About page, the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy.

The Short Version

• One named author. Everything is written and checked by me. There is no hidden staff and no anonymous writing.

• Standards and official documentation first. Technical claims are backed by RFCs, vendor documentation or published research, and linked so you can check them.

• Mistakes get fixed in the open. Report one and it is corrected, and the "Last updated" date changes when the content does.

• Ads never decide what is written. The site is funded by Google AdSense, and advertisers have no say over guides, tools or results.

Who Writes and Reviews the Content?

I write every guide, tool description and FAQ answer myself, and I built the tools. MyIPShow has no separate editorial team, so there is no second reviewer. Instead, each page goes through the same checks before it is published:

• Claims are tied to a source. Any technical statement (how IPv6 addressing works, what a DNS record does, what robots.txt can and cannot enforce) is checked against the standard or documentation that defines it.

• Tools are tested before the text is written. A guide that describes a tool result is based on running the tool, not on assumption.

• Limits are stated. Where a result is an estimate (for example, IP location), the page says so instead of presenting it as certain.

You can read more about me and the site on the About page.

What Sources Does MyIPShow Use?

Sources are used in this order of preference, and the most authoritative one available for a claim is the one linked:

Source type Examples Used for
Internet standards RFC 791, RFC 8200, RFC 1035, RFC 9309, RFC 9110 Definitions and how protocols behave: IP addressing, DNS, robots.txt, HTTP headers
Vendor and platform documentation Google Search Central, MaxMind accuracy guide How a specific product or service works, and its published accuracy and limits
Published research APNIC study on IP geolocation Evidence on accuracy, causes of errors and real-world behavior

Sources are paraphrased and linked, never copied. Forums, social posts and anonymous pages are not used as the basis for a technical claim. When two sources disagree, or a figure comes from one company's own materials, the page says whose figure it is.

How Are Tool Results Produced?

Depending on the tool, results come from your browser's own connection, from our lookup service at ip.myipshow.com (which uses Cloudflare Radar and ipwho.is), from public DNS resolvers, or from public internet standards, not from a profile of you:

• Your IP address is the address your connection presents to the site when a page loads, shown as received.

• Location, ISP and network details are estimates from IP geolocation and network registry data. They show an approximate area and the network operator, not a street address. The providers behind them are listed in the data sources table on the About page.

• Lookups you run (an address, a domain, a host or a pasted user agent) are processed to return the result. The last few you ran are kept only in your own browser's local storage, as listed in the Cookie Policy, and are never tied to you or used for advertising.

• VPN and proxy checks give indicators, not proof. No check can say with certainty that a connection is or is not masked.

Each tool's method, the standards behind it and the limits of its results are explained in the How Our Tools Work section on the home page.

How Is Content Kept Accurate and Up to Date?

Networking changes slowly but it does change: standards get replaced, vendors change their products and accuracy figures are revised. To keep pages current:

• Every page shows a date. Guides show their publish and update dates, and policy pages show an "Effective" and a "Last updated" date at the top.

• The date only changes when the content does. Fixing a typo or a broken link does not change it. Changing a fact, a figure, a source or the advice does.

• Pages are re-checked. I review the guides and tool pages against their sources from time to time, and sooner when a standard or a vendor changes something that affects them.

• Outdated material is updated or removed. A page I can no longer stand behind is rewritten or taken down rather than left online.

How Are Mistakes Corrected?

If you find an error, an outdated source or something unclear, tell me through the Contact page or by email. Please include the page address and what you think is wrong. After that:

• I check it against the original source. If you are right, the page is fixed.

• The update date changes when the correction affects facts, figures or advice. For a significant correction, the page says what was changed.

• If I disagree, I explain why and point to the source, so you can judge for yourself.

The same applies to tool results. If a tool returns something that looks wrong, send the input you used and the result you got so it can be investigated.

Does Advertising Influence the Content?

No. MyIPShow is free to use and is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. The rules I follow:

• Advertisers do not see or approve content. Ads are placed by Google's ad system, and no advertiser has any say over what a guide says or what a tool returns.

• Nobody pays for coverage, rankings or results. No company pays to be mentioned, recommended or presented more favorably, and tool results cannot be bought or changed.

• Ads are separate from the content. They are served in their own ad units and are never written to look like part of a guide or a tool result.

• Cookie choices are respected. Advertising cookies are only set after you accept the cookie notice, as explained in the Cookie Policy.
